If you have not yet created the web page the next link will be Add Temple Web Page. After creating your web page, this will turn into a link labeled Edit Temple Web Page. (Please note, if you have not been assigned access to edit the chapter web page you will not have this link.) This opens the form to create and edit your temple web page. Javascript is required to get the most out of this form, as there are many tools here to help you format your web page.
The Include Contacts link will display or not display the entire temple information and contact information section on your web page. If set to "no," this section will override any settings in individual contact settings. We recommend you set it to "yes" - do not set this to "no" out of concern for exposing your email address, as thee are methods in place to protect it from public view - see contacts. If for some reason you do not want to be contacted from the Temple of Isis Web Site, set this to "no".
The Web Site URL is the unique web address of your Temple of Isis web page. When you initially create your web page, it will be pre-populated with your chapter's city and state (or city and province for non-us chapters) in the format CityState, with state being the abbreviation for your state. Although you can set the URL to any string of letters and numbers you wish, it is recommended you preserve the CityState format for ease of use by visitors - they can simply type in templeofisis.com/CityState and locate your Temple of Isis chapter. The web site URL is not case sensitive, CityState, citystate and citySTATE will all locate your page. The web site URL can only consist of letters and numbers - special characters or spaces will be removed.
If the URL you select is already in use, the form will return with an error that it is already in use and ask that you make a change to the URL to make it unique. If you are creating the web page for the first time, it will append the CityState format with a number, for example, CityState1.
The Page Template you select is by far the easiest and most robust tool you can use to personalize your page. As of the writing of this help file, there are six templates to choose from, with the temple information, contact information, and a preview of the most recent blog entries either on the bottom of the page or along the left side. To preview the templates, select a template from the list and click the link to the right of the list, "Preview." You may preview templates here to get an idea of how they work.
The Page Content text area is where you input information about your Temple of Isis chapter. In its simplest form, you need only to type paragraphs and optionally add images to create your temple web page. This system will do most of the formatting for you. To add colors, headings, images, and other formatting to your page, use the tools in the Edit Toolbar to apply valid HTML markup to your page content.
In the left area of the Edit Toolbar you will see two lists labeled "Add Color" and "Add Styles". The "Add Color" select list simply colors the text, the "Add Styles" adds other formatting styles. To the far right, you will see a link to Style Help to guide you as to what effect each of these styles will have on your text.
To use the "Add Color" and "Add Styles" tools, simply select the text to which you want to apply the style or color and select the item from the list. The HTML markup will automatically be applied to the selected text.
The Add URL link allows you to easily add a link from your web page to an external site. Simply click the link and follow the prompts - you will be asked to enter the URL (web address) of the link, and text to place on the link. The link will be added at the bottom of the existing text in the text area box. To move it, select the link, press CTRL-X on your keyboard (Edit->Cut, or Apple-X for Macintosh), insert the cursor in the text where you want the link, and press CTRL-V (Edit ->Paste, or Apple-V for Macintosh) to paste the link in position.
The Insert Image select box works in the same way. To use this tool, you must first upload images to populate the Insert Image select box. If you do not see an image select list to the right of the Add URL link it means you have no images uploaded to insert. Use the "Upload new images here" link in the upper-right of the Edit Toolbar to upload images. Help on uploading images here.
Next to the label for Page Content, you will see a link to Open a full window to edit your web page. This opens a window as large as your monitor to give you more room to edit, and has the same editing tools as the main window. When you are done editing your content, press the button labeled "Update Form". This will put all of your edits back into the form in the main window.
Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the form and press the Update Temple Page button to save your changes.
If you are familiar with HTML, you can also paste or type in your own HTML markup as mentioned on the sample web page. Javascript, page headers, and deprecated tags are not supported, but all other HTML tags are allowed.
